LASER TREATMENT FOR NAIL FUNGUS
ERADICATES NAIL FUNGUS
NO PAIN - NO MEDICATIONS - NO BLOOD TESTS
Foot & Ankle Specialists of West Michigan is pleased to offer laser systems to eradicate nail fungus.

Laser treatment for nail fungus allows for eradication of the fungus in the nail bed without affecting the nail or using prescription oral medication with potentially harmful side effects. The procedure can be done right in our offices and is virtually pain free with most people only noticing a slight warming of their toes.
The treatment takes about 30 to 45 minutes with immediate recovery; patients can typically go back to their normal daily schedule afterward. Visual improvement is noted around the third month following the procedure. Maximum improvement is noted between eight to eleven months depending on the patient’s individual nail growth rate.
Laser treatment can be a better option for most patients than using medications that treat nail fungus. Drug treatments for nail fungus have potential side effects like liver damage and can lead to harmful side effects if combined with other necessary medications you may be taking. Patients who might be at risk for liver problems with the medication treatments are generally able to have the laser treatment without most risks associated with the medicines.

As with all medical treatments, the laser treatment system is effective, but not completely 100% guaranteed. Various factors including how severely the fungus has infected the toenail need to be considered. The Podiatrists at Foot & Ankle Specialists of West Michigan make a thorough examination of the patient’s feet and discuss all courses of treatment that are appropriate before the procedure is considered.
For those patients who have a much more severe infection that might not be best treated with the laser, we have a liquid form of the oral medicine that can be applied directly to the nail, which, though the medicine can take longer to work and must be applied every day, greatly reduces the risk of liver damage.
Additionally, Foot & Ankle Specialists offers preventative options including a special nail polish. Most commercial nail polishes can actually promote the growth of nail fungus. The polish we offer contain anti-fungal properties that help prevent fungus.

The laser treatments are not covered by insurance. The cost is $150 for the first nail and $100 per additional nail. The total maximum price for the three recommended laser treatments is $700.
Fortunately, Foot & Ankle Specialists of West Michigan offers financing to their patients for the laser treatment. Additionally we accept Visa and Mastercard.
